The village of Embonas is located 54 km from the town of Rhodes. Its name comes from the ancient word "Pulpit" which means mountain slope. The village, like most in Rhodes, preserve its traditional elements, as residents have intense cultural activity, they are organizing numerous cultural and musical traditional events. It is not very picturesque, but it attracts many tourists for folklore and walks. It has narrow streets, colorful rugs and whitewashed houses.
