The village of Embonas is located 54 km from the town of Rhodes. Its name comes from the ancient word "Pulpit" which means mountain slope. The village, like most in Rhodes, preserve its traditional elements, as residents have intense cultural activity, they are organizing numerous cultural and musical traditional events. It is not very picturesque, but it attracts many tourists for folklore and walks. It has narrow streets, colorful rugs and whitewashed houses.

Embonas is known for producing the finest wine of the island, since there are the most vineyards, but also many wineries. Besides the wine, it is famous for Souma, ouzo, liqueurs. The rural culture is also strong, as everywhere you can meet grapes and raisins.

Do not forget to visit the Church of the Assumption, the facilities of winemaking, the Folklore Museum
Access to Embonas can be by public bus and rented or private car or motorcycle. I also provides taverns and places to stay.
